The long-awaited Porsche 718 Boxster Spyder RS ​​is getting closer to reality. She was recently filmed racing down the Nordschleife at impressive speeds. The focus is coming to an end.

After the GT4 and the GT3, the Boxster Spyder is going into RS mode. As you might have guessed from its name, the Boxster Spyder RS ​​will serve as the convertible alternative to the 718 Cayman GT4 RS… or the most edgy version of the Boxster lineup. It depends on how you see the glass. The most significant improvements that the first RS in the Bosxter range benefits from are hidden under the bodywork. Like the Cayman GT4 RS, it will be equipped with an atmospheric 4.0-liter Flat-6 developing 500 horsepower and 448 Nm of torque. Alongside this engine, a seven-speed PDK transmission will drive the rear wheels alone.

The next Spyder RS ​​should to be able to reach 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 315 km/h. While the Boxster Spyder RS ​​may match the Cayman GT4 RS on the straights, it probably won’t be as fast around a circuit: the absence of the huge rear wing found on the GT4 RS is bound to rob it of some of the power. aerodynamic support… And therefore the speed of passage in curve. Nevertheless, the engineer behind the wheel of this prototype seen on the « Green Hell » seemed to push the car to its limits and the pace is quite impressive for a Boxster.

Various visual and aerodynamic improvements will be made to the car. For example, the front end will be redesigned and will benefit from a more pronounced front splitter and aerodynamic fins on either side of the bumper. . A new tail section has also been developed, with two prominent ‘NACA’ ducts. Porsche has also fitted the car with new air intakes just behind the side windows, mimicking the air intakes of the Cayman GT4 RS which are very important factors in the car’s performance.

Porsche has yet to announce when the 718 Boxster Spyder RS ​​will be unveiled to the world, but we believe it will arrive sometime next year. And we can’t wait to hear the sound of this car in real life and at the wheel. With the hair in the wind, the sound can only be better. Case to follow.
